Enterprise Reporting Platform Roadmap
Client: Provincial Gaming and Lottery Operator, 2025 (10 weeks)
Role: UX Design and Project Lead
Collaborators: Business End-Users, Technical Lead, Project Manager, Data Analyst, UX Designer, Business Consultant, Executive Stakeholders.
Objective
The operator needed to rationalize over 100 legacy reports to reduce licensing overhead and transition to cloud-based services. The primary goal was to drastically reduce report volume through a strategic migration roadmap without losing critical business insights.
The Design Process & Delivery
I led a cross-functional team through a comprehensive usage assessment, applying a user-centred lens to report rationalization.
Persona-Driven Discovery: Through persona workshops with core business domains, we identified redundant reports and opportunities for consolidation that were previously undocumented.
Data-Driven Matrix: Working with data and technology teams, we established a retention classification matrix based on measurable criteria for migration.
Strategic Sequencing: We applied design thinking to evaluate report viability, balancing user desirability with technical complexity. This resulted in a logical implementation roadmap, including the potential for AI accelerators to speed up execution.
Outcome
The rationalization led to a 50% reduction in migration effort. Beyond cost savings, the project shifted the organization’s reporting strategy toward business user needs rather than technology use cases, enabling more actionable decision-making.
